low tide

low tide

low tide

remnants of shells

offered by waves

trampled underfoot

an endless season of separation

division

masked or bare-faced

cardboard signs plead for justice

while status quo savors history

barriers

built and fiercely defended

band-aids in tandem

unpierced arms wait

hope

whispers of regular days

deposit anxiety

exhaustion

fear

help me gather the gains

and tally the losses

from a tucked-away season

hand me a basket

for the crumbs

fragments

nourish our souls

starving for unity

distribute

reassemble

every

fragment

Lord

remake us

epoxy us

affix us

make us

whole
