The newest desktop for August from {in}courage can be found HERE.
This photo looks a lot like August to me…the flowers in my garden are happy for the sun making
more regular appearances and there are plenty of bees getting busy with their important
work.
It seems that the arrival of August causes many to heave sigh after sigh because it marks
the last month of summer.
How about choosing joy!
I read Psalm 100 yesterday and read a brief commentary that made me think.
This psalm is so familiar to me as during Carl and my FCA days, we sang it as a song.
But did you know that this psalm could be called The Ten Commandments of Joy.
Take a little time and read it this week.
Each verse is either a command to rejoice OR a command to do something that will
result in joy.
Last week, I must admit my first response to those bumps was not to rejoice.
Today, the rejoicing will be easier as Carl and I are getting a much-needed time
away.
I want to cultivate a life and spirit that rejoices simply because I know that I am His
and I continually am learning more about who He is.
A life that is full of giving thanks repeatedly.
Make this last month of summer all about embracing and
speaking joy.
See you next week.
I have some joy making to do!
Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!
Serve the LORD with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the LORD, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the LORD is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.
As I read that Psalm…I could hear us singing it back in those FCA days! Enjoy your time away w/ your hubby. 🙂
