This is the first DVD selection that I have reviewed from Thomas Nelson. I must say that I am a bit jaded when it comes to many Christian movies…either the acting is poor, the script is somewhat stilted or
Dean Cain stars as Randy Simpkins, a husband and father torn between the demands of his job and family. Asked by his wife to watch their two-year-old son, Joe, for a few minutes, he becomes distracted by work. When he returns, Joe is gone. He and his wife search desperately for their missing son through the vast countryside. But as their fear grows, the community responds – hundreds of supporters uniting behind the family in a powerful spiritual journey that will test the couple’s love and faith, and forever change a community.
That is the story in a nutshell…I won’t reveal anymore as it is a truly inspiring story especially since it is true. This is what the cover of the movie says:
A missing child. A family in crisis. A faith tested. In their darkest hour, God gives hope.
If I were to give a thumbs up or down rating, I would give a thumbs up for the true story and a thumb sideways for the acting and the writing. After all, I did need a kleenex at the end, so it was moving story.
I also enjoyed the special features for the movie with the real life couple and the actors.
As you can tell, this is a mixed review…if you are on the fence and would like to watch this movie and decide for yourself…the first person that says “yes”…I will send the movie your way!
