A few weeks ago I read this during my morning time…

“My response is to get down on my knees before the Father,

this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth.

I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—

that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in.

And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love,

you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love.

Reach out and experience the breadth!

 Test its length!

Plumb the depths!

 Rise to the heights!

Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.”

Ephesians 3: 14-19 (MSG)

When I read this passage that morning, my response was actually much like Paul’s…I felt compelled to kneel before my Maker…how can He love me like this…so vast and extravagant…without measure… and me, the object of His desire without merit of this exquisite expression.

As much as the verses impacted me…I hadn’t been able to write about it, yet it seemed to have taken up residence…I felt tongue-tied to even explain it…like I needed a theological degree to even begin to express how each word dove deep into my marrow.

That’s how God’s Word is…it penetrates us and renders us speechless…it is  just plain powerful.

How I wish that my words always had an impact that left others speechless in a good way.

I fear there are smudges of  words that I have carelessly tossed into the air only to land upon unsuspecting ears.

To be loved by God is to be loved with every facet of His very Godness…that is Father, Son and Holy Spirit…He loves unreservedly…without motives…without reservations…and truly if we examine the objects of His love…without reason…He just loves…because He is fully love.

As high and deep and  long and  wide as  His love is constantly…my love is not.  It is easy for me to say that I couldn’t possibly love like God but then I recall the thirteenth chapter that Paul wrote to the Corinthians…a guide on what love should look like and a reminder that without love…we gain nothing…

Love is the beginning…the sustainer…the compass…the standard…the goal…it gives every aspect of this walk of faith meaning.

If I am an image bearer of the King…love should be my reflection.

  • Will you join me in taking a fresh look at the love of God?
  • Will you let it flood you this very day?
  • Will you look for ways that God has revealed His love to you each day…each hour?
  • Will you let it change you? Will you let it change the way you love?
  • Will you let your love for God grow without boundaries?
  • Will you love the unloveable…the unlovely…the unloving?

Be loved…

Love God…

Go love…

So often I have read the verses that follow the above scripture and I must admit that I looked at it in relationship to what  God is going to do…for me…today I wonder if I ask God to love more…love better…love the way He loves then perhaps He will surprise me…maybe it would surprise me that I would seek a better way that would serve more than just me.

I think perhaps God would say…You might not think it possible, my child…but just watch…just watch Me work in you…through you…My love finds Its home in you…just open the door and release it…

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think,  according to the power at work within us,  to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations,  forever and ever.
