A little bit of this…a little bit of that…

A little bit of this…a little bit of that…

Hey…I passed the 200 posts mark last week…actually it happened without me being aware…whew.

So…I am NOT going to post 200 things about me…but if you would like, you could read the 100 things page…twice!  Ha…just kidding!

Thanks for making posting so much fun…thanks for all the encouragement!

Speaking of encouragement…my sweet blog friend Karen blessed me last week with this award:

Isn’t that nice…Karen is also one of the cover to cover bloggers…please check out her site A Time for Everything…she has a great sense of humor and a huge heart for the Lord.  Thank you so much Karen…you always leave me such dear comments…I send the love right back at cha!

Rumor has it that you are supposed to play a bit of a word association game by answering with only one word (I will try) and then nominate seven other blogs for this award as well…here goes:

where is your cell phone? in my purse
where is your significant other? at work
your hair color? black with some rebel follicles
your mother? (what? where she is or what color hair she has?) in Pullman…black hair
your father? in Pullman and he is bald by choice
your favorite thing? just one…today…our tree that is many shades of green, yellow, orange and red…lovely!
your dream/goal? To finish the race…well.
The room you’re in? Dining room
your hobby? writing
your fear? tight spaces
where do you want to be in 6 years? I will be 50…on a trip with my husband…somewhere fun.
where were you last night? at home
what you’re not? my first thought was I am not ashamed of the gospel.
one of your wish list items?the new ESV study Bible
the last thing you did? yelled at my dog for incessant barking and not obeying me
what are you wearing? usual black yoga pants and a red top
your tv?  not on yet
your pet? Hazel a 7 year old, chocolate Aussie that barks too much…pesky squirrels
your computer? a laptop…sometimes it does not obey me either.
your mood? I have the blahs…not sure why…but this is helping
missing someone? my Grandmother Helen
your car? it’s called cranberry but it is kinda a plum color
something you’re not wearing but love to wear? my pajamas
favorite store? bookstores and office supply stores and New Season’s Market
your summer? eventful and trust producing
love someone? many someones
your favorite color? probably green
when is the last time you laughed? this morning
last time you cried? Sunday at church.  I need more words…our pastor had a 93 year old man stand up that accepted Jesus at age 3 after memorizing John 3:16…back to my goal…I want to finish well.
Okay…maybe that was like a mini-100 things…sorry!
So…without further ado, I nominate the following blogs:

Check these blogs out…I think you will find that they are very diverse in their focus but all excellent …enjoy!

I am really enjoying memorizing this month…I have started kind of slowly but I think that I am enjoying savoring the verses…paying attention to words that stand out…mulling over what  familiar words like “sacrifice” or “mercy” or “sober judgment” really mean…what do they mean to me?  Sounds a bit like apple cider in the autumn…so you could say that I am drinking in the fragrant and delicious liquid of the Word right now…making sure it doesn’t burn my tongue when it seems a bit hot but enjoying it as it runs down my throat and warms my insides.

Here’s what I have committed to memory so far:

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.”

Roman 12: 1-3

Have a blessed day,

  1. I loved reading your answers, Helen…and the way you eloquently described taking in the Word towards the end. Beautifully said.

Thank you so much for the nomination, too…I better get to blogging. 😉

  2. Thank you for your kind words! I enjoyed getting to know a little more about you (and congrats on the passing 200 posts.) Hey, we must be the same age. Although I hadn’t thought that in 6 years I’ll be 50. (And I’m not going to think about it either.) Enjoy your day, sister!

  3. I love reading more about you–maybe I should read your 100 things post, also. I am just dropping by to say, “I love your blog” too, and I wished I had just six years to 50. I had a friend who said to her (wise-cracking) daughter when she turned 45, “Oh, dear, halfway to 50” to which her daughter replied, “No mom, you’re not halfway to 50, you’re halfway to 90! I’m halfway to 96–oh well. You said so many good things, and what do I dwell on? I know you will finish well, as you press on in Him. Love, Annette

  4. Hey Jess,
No pressure on the blogging…even the older posts are wonderful…I will wait…and work on my patience.

Hey Karen, hooray for 44! Actually what was weird to me was celebrating my 22nd anniversary and realizing that I have been married half my life…kind of weird.

Oh Annette, that is not the way I want to think about being halfway…that kind of smarts a bit…ugh! If Karen hadn’t of beaten me to it…I would have had you on my list in a heartbeat!

  5. Loved your answers friend and memory verse 🙂 You made me smile. After last night, I needed that. Jared got a concussion at karate class and was in the ER. He seems to be doing better today, but I would appreciate your prayers as he is supposed to travel this weekend to a check a college. At least he is not doing any driving.

    Have a great weekend! 🙂

  6. Blessings to you Helen!

I was just coming over to your blog (as I do about once a week to read through all of your weekly additions) and WOW!!!! I’m totally blessed and surprised that my new Mission-Minded LIFE blog made your blog-list! What a fun honor!!!

And I need to let you know that I now have a current up-to-date passport. It’s actually quite a relief to have a new color picture. My old black-and-white passpost photo had this horrendous 90s-style perm that always gave the customs officials strange looks as they compared the “then” and “now” difference. The actual process only took about one hour to fill out the forms, get a picture at this passport photo place, and then wait-time only took a few weeks (I was amazed at how quick it came). Now, if I’m needed at a spur of the moment to head overseas, God knows that I’m ready.

Now, I’m passing that “to-do” baton to YOU.
    It really wasn’t painful.
    You can do it.

And thanks again for the nomination!!!

  7. Hi Helen – thanks! I totally answered every single question and it was a nice break from “thinking” to write, you know? Although, some questions required more thought than I had expected they would. I also keep saying I’m six years from 50, though I’m actually 7 years. I don’t know why I feel like I skipped 43. 🙂
