SHINE…SHINE…SHINE…

From my earliest memories of Caleb, he has always loved music.  I would find him at six months doing  a little seated dance to a toy piano.  He would pick up songs quickly and could be heard singing his version throughout the house as he began his toddler years.  Although he still struggles with being left behind in his 3 year old class at church, his favorite part of that banishment is going to worship with all the other preschoolers.

A lot of Caleb and my day to day life is spent in the car, the bonus of having teenagers with busy social lives.  We spend this confined time listening to tons of cd’s.  When a favorite of Caleb’s will begin,  he will shout out which track number he wants me to play.

Yesterday, I had put in the newest Salvador cd and he belted out, “Number 3, Mama, number 3.”  So I obliged and he began to sing and as I looked at him in the rear view mirror, his whole body was moving in his car seat to the song Shine.  We arrived to pick up Carlen and as she got into the car she said, “Hey Caleb, how are you?” to which Caleb responded, “Not now Carlen, I’m singing!!!!”  Note: Caleb was corrected in the proper way to greet someone after the outburst.

But as Carlen and I let Caleb sing in the back of the car, I realized that he not only was singing the catchy chorus but to the best of his abilities he was singing the verses as well.  Sometimes before we can believe deeply in our hearts and minds we have to speak forth truth.  I pray that all my children will believe in their heart the words of this song and that their lives will be exemplified by it as well…me too for that matter.

SHINE

I woke up to another day
Another day to celebrate
Your beauty and Your mystery,
it’s more than any eye can see
I’m not the man  I was before
With You, my life is so much more
Break the chains and open doors to a
world I can’t ignore

Chorus
Lord let me shine, shine like the moon
A reflection of You in all that I do
Lord let me be a light for Your truth
Light to the world, I wanna be used to
shine for you

As simple as a passing smile
Or listening a little while
To someone that’s convinced
that they are in this all alone
Here’s my chance to share the news
To introduce the good that’s You
Here You go again,
You never cease to blow my mind

Lord let me shine, shine like the moon
A reflection of You in all that I do
Lord let me be a light for Your truth
Light of the world, I wanna be used to
shine for You

You’re the love that we all need
You lift us up to our feet
You hold the key to eternity
The King of Kings alive in me

Lord let me shine, shine like the moon
A reflection of You in all that I do
Lord let me be a light for Your truth
Light of the world, I wanna be used to
shine for You

“Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.”

    Helen,
How incredibly sweet to picture Caleb singing that song!! Especially the part about :”I’m not the man I was before…..” He IS such a little man! What a blessing too for Carlen .
I will just have to wait to have grandchildren to witness and savor such delights!

    Love,

    Jen
