ISAIAH 55:8-13 (The Message)

8-11 “I don’t think the way you think.
The way you work isn’t the way I work.”
         God’s Decree.
“For as the sky soars high above earth,
so the way I work surpasses the way you work,
and the way I think is beyond the way you think.
Just as rain and snow descend from the skies
and don’t go back until they’ve watered the earth,
Doing their work of making things grow and blossom,
producing seed for farmers and food for the hungry,
So will the words that come out of my mouth
   not come back empty-handed.
They’ll do the work I sent them to do,
they’ll complete the assignment I gave them.

12-13 “So you’ll go out in joy,
you’ll be led into a whole and complete life.
The mountains and hills will lead the parade,
   bursting with song.
All the trees of the forest will join the procession,
   exuberant with applause.
No more thistles, but giant sequoias,
no more thornbushes, but stately pines—
Monuments to me, to God,
living and lasting evidence of God.”

  1. Hi Amanda,
Thanks for your comment and I will take some time and read the link that you provided…I definitely believe the Message to be a paraphrase…another way to express the Word of God in a language that is more familiar with our times…however, in trying to expound on scripture…I tend to stick to other translations of the Word such as NKJV, NIV and the Amplified…I have a love for words and their meanings…so many times I will use several translations to deepen the meaning of a particular word…

This post was over a year ago and so I believe that my intent was reading the Word with fresh eyes…

“I don’t think the way you think or work the way you work”. wow how hard it is to not put God in our terms. To not think that He sees eveything the way that we do. I know this is an older post for you but it works for me today given our conversation in the parking lot. It helps me to put into perspective the events and words of the weekend. I just need to see things from His perspective and not my own fleshly one. Thanks for the word dear one, kimz

  3. Hey Kim,

Let’s see if you find this comment or not…it was so fun to chat with you in the lot today…I miss you…and my family wasn’t even bothered that we ate dinner at bedtime…ha! I guess it is the summer mood!

How I wish that I understood all of God’s ways but if I did then He would cease being that wildly wonderful mystery that He is…and that would be no fun at all…we serve a God that sees it all and knows it all too…and His ways are so amazingly just and right…just got to remember that…

Love to you my dear…I love having you visit!
