Wanted: Perfect Day of Writing

Wanted: Perfect Day of Writing

Wanted: Perfect Day of Writing

  • Rise early
  • Quiet Time
  • Walk Dog
  • Garden
  • Write Morning Pages
  • Nonfat Madagascar Vanilla Extra Foamy Latte…if you have to ask, you just don’t know

Setting: Backyard deck

Climate: Between 70-75 degrees, no humidity, partly sunny

  • Favorite Sketch Pad with top loading binding
  • Ink Gel Pens-smooth/fast drying
  • Endless supply of ice water
  • Red vines to gnaw

Supplementary Materials:

  • Daughters busy and have own transportation
  • Son so sleepy that only 1 round of Itsy Bitsy Spider is needed
  • Husband calls when pen has been capped
  • Snoozing dog- see above

Extra Credit:

  • Ability to look at overflowing hamper and realize it can wait
  • Mind clear of excess and in a flash, an idea arrives and a smile lines my face because of the joy of creating

The weather will change, my children will grow older and one day choose to live elsewhere.  But what will remain is the desire to create and a life that has been carved out by the discipline necessary to write everyday no matter the clamor.  If I believe that only through perfection, my passions can be a reality then I am as foolish as trying to capture the wind in a jar or that the laundry will ever be completely done.

  1. “Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to you the Kingdom!” Lk 12:32

“For everyone who asks and keeps on asking receives, and he who seeks and keeps on seeking finds, and to him who knocks and keeps on knocking the door shall be opened….If you then, evil-minded as you are, know how to give good gifts – gifts that are to advantage – to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him!” Lk 11: 10, 13

Your Father has given you a great gift! Thank you for sharing it with me…breaking it open and sharing the aroma. Gifts given away multiply and mature. Everyone wins! I am blessed by your courage, your heart, your humility, and your willingness to share.
